About Me

My name is Jessie and I’m a qualified teacher with 15 years of experience teaching and tutoring languages. I’ve taught at high schools in France, banks and manufacturing companies in Italy, and for six years at Millfield School where I held a leadership position as Senior Tutor.

My qualifications include a PGCE from the University of Bristol, a BA Hons in French Studies with Italian from the University of Warwick and a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults. I have a strong record of helping students achieve success in French and Italian (to A Level), Spanish (to GCSE) and English as a Foreign Language (Cambridge exams).

I have up-to-date DBS clearance

Prior to training as a Modern Foreign Languages teacher, I worked in international companies in London using French and Italian on a daily basis at The Thinking Traveller and McArthurGlen European Development.

I started tutoring independently as a way to fit teaching around family life. My first students were local children who came to my house on Saturday mornings and learnt with their parents at the kitchen table. I then took on a few exam students before starting to develop my own short courses for children and adults.

My preschool classes were put on hold due to Covid-19, which is when I started online lessons

My aim with Language Tutor Bristol is to enable people at any stage of life to develop a love of languages. Whether you want to get off the beaten track on your next holiday or simply fancy taking up a new hobby, I have a course to suit you.
