About Me

My name is Jessie and I have over 15 years of experience teaching and tutoring languages. I’ve taught at high schools in France, banks and manufacturing companies in Italy, and for six years at Millfield School where I held a leadership position as Senior Tutor.

Tutoring allows me to use my language teaching experience in new ways, while fitting around my two young sons

My qualifications include a PGCE from the University of Bristol, a BA Hons in French Studies with Italian from the University of Warwick and a CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) from International House. I have a strong record of helping students achieve success in French and Italian (to A Level), Spanish (to GCSE) and English as a Foreign Language (Cambridge exams).

I have up-to-date DBS clearance

Prior to training as a Modern Foreign Languages teacher, I spent four years in London working in the commercial property sector, where I used French and Italian on a daily basis at The Thinking Traveller and McArthurGlen European Development.

I started tutoring independently when I had my first son as a way to fit teaching around family life. My first students were local children who came to my house on Saturday mornings and learnt with their parents at the kitchen table. I then took on a few exam students before starting to develop my own short courses for children and adults.

My preschool classes were put on hold due to Covid-19, which is when I started online lessons

My aim with Language Tutor Bristol is to enable people at any stage of life to develop a love of languages. Whether you need to pass an exam or get by on holiday, I’ll structure lessons around your goals and help you enjoy the learning process.

Back in my student days in the south of France, living the dream!
